"Not enough base licenses specified for upgrade" - how to link an upgrade license -> base license

perhaps you can help me on this.
Vendor: VMware - we have dozens of base and upgrade licenses (from a universe of hundreds).
When we edit the upgrade license, on the "base license" tab, we need to specify the base license and the upgraded quantity. My difficulty here is to look for the BL - we have hundreds there and the search apparently doesn't work with "License ID" or "External ID" or basically anything rather than the product itself.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to narrow this search helping me finding the right base license?

Hello Joao,
the "License ID" is only an internal (database) ID that will be not helpful. The "Externel ID" is something you could set youself during a license import. By default, this field is supposed to be empty. Both fields will therefore be of no use to you.
It is basically, as it is. If you have hundreds of licenses for a product in your system, you have hundreds of licenses in your system. You will have to deal with this. Perhaps you can use this opportunity to consolidate your "base licenses" into a smaller number of "upgrade licenses".

Hi @João Inverno , instead of starting at the upgrade license, you could start from the base license or from the "License List".
Also once you have added some filter or just a '%' , you can see the external id or invoice reference.
also it is possible to import the upgrade quantities as a license update.

that is exactly my difficulty, choosing from the hundreds licenses from that drop down list. It not possible to narrow the appearing results, I can assume. Not even to expand the search menu to visualize more clearly or to order alphabetically or by date. Nothing. That is my struggle :D
