  • I would agree that this is not part of the out-of-the-box functionality.

The Snow Agent performs a local scan and I am not aware that a client has any knowledge of the external IP adress.

You can add a custom powershell script to the agent scan that reads the public IP, using (Invoke-WebRequest ifconfig.me/ip).Content.Trim() in a powershell script.

You then need to stored the information into a custom field. This is a little work to do and requires some deeper knowledge of the system.

  • Simple solution, next question then is are there instructions for adding powershell scripts to agent scans, not done one before.

    • It is actually not that easy.

If you search here for "Yield-RegistryKey" you will find some hints how to handle that.

What we have done for a customer:

      • use a powershell script to collect the required information
      • use "Yield-RegistryKey" to write that information into a "virtual" registry. This means that it will not be written into the registry of the client computer, but added to the inventory data as a registry key.
      • This information will be available in the SnowInventory database and also transported into the SnowLicenseManager database. Unfortunately, these fields are not visible in SLM.
      • we have created custom fields and added a custom procedure to the Data Update Job that copies the information into these custom fields
      • Now the information is available as usual in reports etc.

Short question, this has come to us from security and from what I can see there is no way to get this, I know we can do it manually, but not sure if it is in Snow. Is there a way to find the IP address issued by an ISP?
