Hi All,
I hope someone can assist me.
Currently I'm setting up the new Snow Inventory installation (Master Server + Service Gateway).
What was already done:
- SLM set-up completed
- SIM set-up completed
- Snow Inventory Master Server set-up completed
Now I need to set-up the Service Gateway, but I'm constantly getting errors. The server for Service Gateway is located after firewall, but the port (two-way communication, 443, Http/Https) has been opened between both servers. I've check with telnet and it's working.
When I try to set-up this without Client Certificate I get error:
502 Bad Gateway
It doesn't matter if I put *:443 at the end of forward address, same error.
When I try to set-up this with Client Certificate I get error:
Cannot connect to forward address
It doesn't matter if I put *:443 at the end of forward address, same error.
Maybe there is something wrong with the certificate? Both servers are using SSL Certificate to collect the agent scans.
How Client Certificate should be done? What common name should I use? What details should be visible in it?
Is there anything that is missing or I forgot to check? I've followed the UserGuide provided.
Honestly, I'm stuck.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Kasia
can you see the server page come up for them both in a web browser?
Yes, I've also check the telnet and works on both 80 and 443 ports.
Update:
I've managed to configure it, but can't start the Service due to error:
"Failed to control the service. The command exited with non-zero exit code '1'."
Can't find any logs in c:\ProgramData\Snow Software\Snow Inventory\Server\
that's usually an issue with the config file.....
check the log file on the inventory server for more information....
C:\ProgramData\SnowSoftware\Inventory
the server and servermanager directories will help give you an idea of why it's not working
That's the thing - no logs available in Snow Folders. In the Event Log I can see only this related to Snow:
"The Snow Inventory Server 5 service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
The config seems to be ok, nothing special:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Configuration>
<ServiceGateway>
<Server>
<SiteName>SiteName</SiteName>
<IncomingFolder>D:\Incoming</IncomingFolder>
<BaseAddress>https://%%%%%%%%:443</BaseAddress>
<ForwardAddress>https://###########</ForwardAddress>
<ForwardClientCertificate>
<Thumbprint>$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$</Thumbprint>
</ForwardClientCertificate>
</Server>
</ServiceGateway>
</Configuration>
yep nothing unusual in that.... the only thing I can think of is to uninstall and try the config again
After re-installing the Snow Inventory couple of times (aroung 10...), trying again same certificates as before, restarting the server, clearing SSL, finally it works. No idea were was the issue. But thanks!
Hi, was there a resolution for this we are having a similar problem and have no idea
Hi @carla schoeman ,
Yes, it was resolved. I had to open TCP port between the two servers (in and out) and then it finally worked.
