How can I add a Windows 7 Extended Support to Snow?

Hello Community,

we have bought an extended support for Windows 7 which I want to add to our snow.

We also have an SKU, but our Snow can not find anything when I try to add it.

Has anyone already added the Windows 7 ESU and can give us any advice?

Thank you in advance.

Dennis

Hi ‌, I've checked this internally and it seems to refer to a support agreement rather than an application. To quote the DIS Team: "This still ties to the specific edition of the software which is described in the agreement you have with its license supplier.   If the you have purchased a specific SKU it should be listed in the invoice of the purchased. Or if you just bought licenses, this should say to which specific product it is. In this case, it may refer to the regular  edition  of  Windows 7 , but its hard to say, since this is all based on the agreement you have with its supplier of licenses." Does this help? • Hi Dennis, i had opened a ticket to add the SKUs for the SQL and Windows Server ESU to SRS. This has been done, for example try to add license via SKU: AAD-44064. I just have to check if this has been added correctly. So i guess a ticket for Win 7 would help you to get the application and then you are able to assign it accordingly? Best regards Sebastian
  • Hi, sorry that it took me so long to answer, but I was not in office for a few weeks.

I have found an SKU from the license supplier.

Snow recognized it and added it as an application named "Windows Extended Security Update".

    Unfortunately no installation is shown.

I did not understand what it means that it refers to a support agreement rather than an application.

What does that mean for me?

(Sorry, but I'm new in using Snow and I'm still learning) 😊

    Hi Dennis,

there is no installation shown because it is not a really application ... it is a License product!

You can change the default Metric of the application to custom compare value e.g. Used extended Windows 7 support.

Then you can type in your counted consumers.

      thank you for the answer.

I'm not sure if I'm looking in the right place, but I can't find any "custom compare value".

When I have a custom compare value, I have to count the consumers manually?

    Hi Dennis,

you must create a custom compare value before.

Go to the Administration Menu, here you can create it.

  • hi interested by this but "Go to the Administration Menu, here you can create it."

what need to be created to have the ESU detected?
