SNOW REVERTING SERVER NAMES

We have updated server names in our environment but every time that we do so snow then reverts their names back to what they were previously in service now. For example we take SERVER123 gets its name changed to SERVER123_retired Snow then reverts the name of SERVER123_retired back to SERVER123

Hi Andrew, What is your procedure to change the server name?

  Typically we replace servers by creating a server calling it 123_new then test it and get it ready for production. Once it is ready for production we take the old server and rename it to 123_retired and change the name of 123_new to just 123 (the old name of the now retired server). We do this because there are many things that point to that server name and so changing the server name in production would not be a viable option.

    Based on those steps, I am sure one of the Snow experts will be able to explain what could make Snow not see the name change. For example, has answered in the past on this thread , maybe he has some knowledge to help you further. Maybe that will allow you to add some input in this thread when you have an answer ...

    Would it be possible that SNOW is merging the two records. Is that a thing?
