How to do a synchronized mapping to Enterprise Architecture Modelling Systems?

Hi

we are using #LEANIX for documenting and modelling our Enterprise Architecture.

Has anybody experience in mapping #SLM applications to IT-components in such an EAM environment?

What should be the mapping criteria?

How to communicate updates in both direction?

How to show that syncronization is active for an application?

...

  • Hi, i don't work with such a tool, but here are some thoughts how to realize your requirement. What should be the mapping criteria? You could use the existing SLM application field "Application types" or you could create a CustomField which corresponds to your category/name in the EAM tool How to communicate updates in both direction? SLM > #LEANIX use PowerShell or any supported technology by #LEANIX to connect to the SLM API and get the mapping information from there (Link: SLM 9 Web API) #LEANIX > SLM Since the SLM API is read-only, you can use the import function of SLM (Home >  Import date > Update existing application) Export the necessary data into a CSV file and upload to SLM (This task can be automated). See Data Import Field Description for more details How to show that syncronization is active for an application? Use a custom field and update it manually or via import. Best, Dennis

    • Hi Dennis  ‌ Thank you for manifesting our first ideas. Using custom fields was our starting approach. We face another problem regarding lifecycle-data. SNOW delivers EOS, EOexS, ... information for a bunch of suppliers. Our LeanIX is connected to Technopedia with much more information. Do you have a recommendation for this? Application update via GUI will not help, because the data fields are not available in this procedure. Schöne Grüsse Markus

      • Hi ‌ Unfortunately no, because your requirement is a bit deeper into the SLM. At this point I can only refer to the Snow Ideas Board . I think an adapter/importer for Technopedia and the extension of the application information would be a nice feature for Snow SLM Best, Dennis
  • @markus metzger sorry not an answer but checking to see if you have made further progress. We also have LeanIX EAS and are about to deploy Snow, so are keen to understand how we can capture data from SNOW (I think via SLM 9 Web API).

Did you link map to IT components or apps or both?

Did you bring in Provider info?

I guess I should go find the PAI and se what it provides

    Ta.

    • hi @Oscar Matzener

we have implemented a connection via API to get the information how many installation we detect to LEANIX.

The interface is the API. The used attribute is the applicationID, which we store to the IT COMPONENT record in LEANIX.

One problem is, that this solution must be reimplemented to LEANIX after each update. :-(

The other problem is that we must decide with applicationID to take. Sometimes the view of architects and license managers differ extremly.

      Hope this helps.
