Assigning different license metric for a same application

Hi All,

Any idea on how to assign different license metric for a same application?

For example:

We have 2 types of SQL Server Enterprise License which is Server+CAL and Core.

The inventory coming from SNOW agent only showing the installation of SQL Server 2012 Enterprise and the default metric is installation.

In this case, the SQL installation only consume the Server+CAL license.

What can I do to be able to assign specific server with SQL Server Enterprise Core license?

Thanks.

  • Hi Atikah, There are 2 different installers for those 2 SQL Server editions, one for the Core Licensing and one for the Server/CAL licensing. Snow should correctly detect the edition installed. So because Snow would recognize the different applications, you should not have metric issues. The VLSC states: Please Note: SQL Server Enterprise 2012 and SQL Server Enterprise Core 2012 each contain unique software. See Special Instructions section for information about which build to install based on how you are licensed. For installation by customers with SQL Server Enterprise Edition Server/CAL licenses and customers who wish to use the software on a trial basis according to Volume Licensing software installation policies.
