Adobe Acrobat 2017/Adobe Acrobat 2017 Standard
Hello   I’m new to using Snow and understanding how Snow collects and collates it’s data. I’m a bit confused as to what Snow is reporting to me in respect if Adobe Acrobat 2017. The licences have been applied to Adobe Acrobat 2017 Standard and a few to Adobe Acrobat 2017 Pro (which is correct) however Snow reports back a mixed estate of Acrobat 2017 Standard and Acrobat 2017 Pro and a number of machines as being neither Standard nor Pro but just Adobe Acrobat 2017.   As far as I know there are only the two products Standard and Pro, but why is Snow seeing some installs as just Adobe Acrobat 2017?   I’ve read on a couple of other Adobe posts that Snow uses SWIDs to identify/categorise Adobe Acrobat, so am guessing it’s something to do with this, but any suggestions on why this is happening and how to correct this behaviour would be appreciated.   Thanks G

  • Hello Gareth, you can easily check this in the Snow License Manager Web Interface. Open the details of any of the three applications (Standard, Pro and "neutral") and edit the application. You will find a tab called "program files" (or something similar :-)) where you can see what files or registry keys have been used to identify the application. In most cases, it is not only SWID, but a combination of files and registry. Kind regards,   Axel

    • Thanks for the above. Useful but I'm still a bit confused, if not more so! Within the program files tab Adobe Acrobat 2017 Standard uses: Adobe Acrobat 2017 17.8 Acrobat.exe Adobe Acrobat 2017 17.8 acrobat.exe Adobe Acrobat 2017 17.11 Acrobat.exe Adobe Acrobat 2017 17.11 Acrobat.exe Adobe Acrobat DC 17.9 Acrobat.exe Adobe Acrobat DC 17.12 Acrobat.exe Adobe Acrobat DC Standard (V7{}AcrobatESR-12-Win-GM-en_GB) 12.0   Adobe Acrobat DC Standard (V7{}AcrobatESR-17-Win-GM-en_GB) 17.0  Adobe Acrobat 2017 "Neutral" uses: Adobe Acrobat 2017 17.8 Acrobat.exe Adobe Acrobat 2017 17.8 acrobat.exe Adobe Acrobat 2017 17.11 Acrobat.exe Adobe Acrobat 2017 17.11 Acrobat.exe Adobe Acrobat DC 17.9 Acrobat.exe Adobe Acrobat DC 17.12 Acrobat.exe The file path for the various acrobat.exe are the same. The only difference in the listings are the two reg keys, but they say Adobe Acrobat DC ... and DC is reported as a separate product? I think I'll put this one on the "too difficult" pile for the moment and revisit it once I've a bit more understanding! Regards G
