Oracle middleware and applications

Hi guys,

How will you manage oracle middleware and applications in SNOW.

By 'manage' i mean the whole process of entitlement uploading and showing compliance position in SNOW.

I don't know if SNOW captures consumption data for Oracle middleware and application products ?

Regards,

Nishant Dhyani

Hi Nishant, Snow has introduced a middleware Scanner as part of the Oracle Management Option to help manage your middleware estate. This option within the Oracle Management product allows the middleware license to be loaded and when the scanner is deployed it will report on the usage. The Scanner is currently for Weblogic instances but more functionality is being added and will be announced through the usual channels as it arrives. If you dont have OMO, then you can report on most product through the standard recognition in SLM and if you are on a Processor metric it is easy to manage them in SLM. You can add the License within the license tab. I hope that helps to get you started, but I would suggest you speak to your Account Manager who I ams ure would be willing to show you the module and what it can deliver for you. Steve

    • It should also be noted that you would need to specifically request not only the SIOS inventory agent, but also request the Middleware component added to the agent. The Middleware component does not automatically come with the SIOS agent.
      • Hi Taylor/Stephen, Where can we get more information around this? We are currently on version 9.5, but could not see the required information regarding Middleware. Also, Does it consume the OMO license? Thanks! Sandeep
        • Sandeep,  You can find the Oracle middleware release notes here:   Per the release notes, you need to have to at least on SIM 6.0.2. I am not sure if it consumes the OMO license, but you would need OMO to display the results of the scan in SLM. Also to note, you need to have the Snow inventory agent plus SIOS plus the middleware component. Taylor

  • Hi stephen ,  Could you please let me know on how to cover the applications with restricted usage  For eg, web logic server is granted with restrict use with Hyperion Financial management plus , so in case if I have available licenses for Hyperion Financial Management plus , how it will cover web logic, when both the metric of these two products are different, where one is user based and other is process based.
