Assignment SQL Server
Hi. A short question. How did you assign your SQL Server Licenses in your System. We know that we have enough licenses for our SQL Applications but we still have the problem that our assignment did not work correct. We would like to assign a few system regarding our Datecenter (physical), this Datacenter has 80 Cores and SQL Server Enterprise 2016 installed. So we have 2 Licenses, one has 56 Cores included, the second has 24 Cores included. So we can cover the 80 Cores of our Datacenter. If we assign this two licenses to the Datacenter and take a look to the Datacenter/Cluster we see that the license are assigned to it and cover the 80 Cores (in the Datacenter View). But the assignment still has no impact to our Compliance Overview for SQL Server. It shows us allways that it is not coverd or only parts are coverd. Is their another solution or still has someone an idea what is the problem ? Thank's Sven

  • Hi Sven, Some of the first troubleshoot steps could include the following: Check that the servers you wish to cover are detected by Snow as included in your cluster Check that your licenses apply to the version and edition of SQL you see detected on the servers Try assigning the license directly to the servers to see if SQL now shows as covered Confirm that your compliance calculation does not hang or time out Once we get more insight into what happens with the above steps, we might be in a better position to help. Regards

  • Hi Sven,  When you click on each Server, what does it say for SQL on that machine?  It'll usually tell you the reason why it's not covered if it isn't.  I also believe that percentage is for the OS and not the applications, but I honestly can't remember off the top of my head.  Regards, Laim

Good day Sven, thanks for your question. Would you be able to share two more screenshot with me, because I would like to analyze something with regards to the licenses you have assigned to the physical Datacenter "Windows_Database_Prod". Could you please select one of the licenses, click edit and post a screenshot of the purchase tab and of the assignment tab? Please also have a look at my blog, which might inform you a bit more on how to efficiently manage your whole SQL server environment.

    • Hi Robert. I opened a ticket in your support system (CS0011040). There you can find all screenshots you need. What is your idea regarding this problem / solution ? Best regards, Sven

Hi Sven, Unfortunatelly, I don't have direct access to our support system. I you wish, you can upload the shots in this topic so I can have a look or perhaps our support team will get back to you as soon as they can. The problem/solution could be numerous things to be honest. Perhaps it's a simple setting on the license or maybe we need to have a look at the downgrade path, not really sure what it could be exactly.
