Oracle License Type Limited Use

Hi Miraluz, I guess you are aware, that Oracle database products in SLM can only be managed with Snow's Oracle Management Option (OMO). OMO will not provide you with compliance overviews. What you get is a central repository for Oracle agreements and orders, a detailed overview of your database application usage (including packs and options) and plenty of additional Oracle reports that help you with analyzing your Oracle database estate and identifying potential risks. When setting up an Oracle order you could add additional info and notes in fields like "Area of use" or "Description". Here you could show the type of database server (e.g. backup or standby). This order you could then connect to the machine that runs the Oracle database. The assignment will be done in the Oracle tab of such a specific computer. Furthermore, you could also use a custom field for all your computers/servers to mark such specific Oracle servers (e.g. as prod, dev, or DR). Hope that helps. Best Regards, Alex

Thanks for the reply Alex. I am also thinking of having custom fields to address that. Do you think there will be any negative impact if we have too many custom field though? That is because every limited license may have a different limitation.

  Hi Miraluz, if it's just for some Oracle database applications it might be not too many custom fields for a computer object. You can also have just one custom field (e.g. license restriction) and pre-define values with the Multi select function in the custom field. If you are talking about other applications, you can also have custom fields directly for the license. Today we do not have this capability for Oracle orders in SLM. Best Regards, Alex
