Add information to an Application
Hello,   Is it possible to add information to complement the original App info (edit button) and then make the same info be spread out to all versions of the same App?   For instance, in my organization I can find 10 versions of Google Chrome and if I add information to a version the same info won’t be in others.    I know using import applications data I could do it in bulk but it will take a lot of time since I have hundreds of apps in this situation.    I tried to change the data in a upper level that groups all versions  but there it appears is not possible to add information.   Thanks for your inputs. Regards.

  • Actually my goal was to update custom fields. Will give it a try anyway. Thanks.   What if a new app version is found? It won’t get the info right?
    • Correct, you'd have to manually update that version I'm afraid!

Hi Gonçalo, via the following query, you can mass-update application information via SQL. If you need to update several applications starting with the same name, this would be a good way. update ai   set ai. systemowner = 'Donald Duck' , ai. SystemOwnerEmail = 'donald@duck.com '   from tblApplicationInfo as ai   inner join tblApplication as a   on ai. ApplicationID = a . ApplicationID   where a . name like '7-Zip%' ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ ‍ You can add more details to line 2. Please find the table headers via the following query. select * from [ SnowLicenseManager] . [ dbo] . [ tblApplicationInfo] ‍ Please use at own risk. Consider to make a database backup, just in case. Would this solve your case? /marcel

  • You can goto "Applications/list all application" Filter the report on your application. Check the checkbox next to all of the applications you want to edit. Then click the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner. Select Edit applications

Hi Johan, thank you for telling us this! Didn't know, that this feature existed. /marcel
    • It's a great feature, the only caveat is that if you try to do this with custom fields, it seems to have issues. Even though the option is there on the edit screen, the data doesn't carry across when you save. You need to manually add the column in on each application / computer. I had this issue when trying to update computers at once. It was unfortunate as it would have been a very quick win for something I was planning.

Hi ? and ?, I can verify, that updated custom field content is not visible in the "All applications" view and in the report "All applications". After I ran the Data Update Job, everything looks as it should. Mass-Update custom fields via checking checkboxes and mass-edit Enter custom field info Run Data Update Job manually or wait until 21:00h. Please let me know, if this worked out for you! /marcel
    • Hi ‌, I just imported what I wanted to in the end but I'll trial this in a group of computers and check on the tomorrow to see if this works because it would be good to know in the future.
        • Hi ‌, I've been pulled out of the office today so I haven't had a chance to look! Realistically I'm not going to get a chance to look at this until Monday now but I'll be sure to post the results of your suggestion on here as soon as I can!
