Assigning Users to Organizational Units

Is it possible in SNOW to assign users to an organizational structure on the basis of e.g. a cost center? In SMACC you can assign users to an organization level by name or computer used. Unfortunately, however, not on the basis of custom fields such as a cost center.

Are there other ways to automate the assignment in SNOW through the organizational structure?

Hi julian, yes this is possible through the professional services department. There is an advanced autoconnect rule tool that they can implement, the tool will allow for the auto allocation based on user defined fields. I would recommend two steps: make sure you look at how the meta data is populated and maintained contact your professional services team/account manager to discuss the advanced autoconnect tool Kind regards, Jelle

Hi all, I have set up a solution for handling this for two of my customers. An automated process is set up via an FTP which daily imports a file provided from the customer with all information that is needed (detailed user information with organization and cost center). The organization structure in SMACC is build up on cost center level and the users are updated with the corresponding information. Several custom fields are also updated in the same process, such as for example last AD login date, date of employment, managers name etc etc. In one of the cases the Auto connect rules are set to Most frequent user and the computers are mapped to the corresponding unit. In the other case we also automatically import a file with the corresponding information for the computers, taken from customers CMDB. Regards, Maria
