Weblogic and Products Included: What will be the metric

We have a couple of Weblogic Suite and Enterprise Edition licenses. All are proc-based. My question is, what will be the metric of the products included? For example, related installation of Oracle Jrockit  and  Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer. Per SNOW metric for them is number of installation.

Hi Miraluz, whenever Snow identifies bundles or applications with multiple possible metrics or metrics that are kind of non-standard to the current standard metrics in Snow License Manager (SLM), we apply the standard metric "installation" first. You are free to always change that. The Oracle Processor metric is such a non-standard one, also because it is related to the type of hardware you are using the software on. In your case, you should use our "custom compare values" in SLM for the mentioned Middleware applications. This special metric allows the definition of custom values to be used as basis for compliance calculations. The number of licenses is compared to the quantities of the custom compare value defined for the application. I would just call the special metric "Oracle Processor". Best regards, Alex

    • Thank you Alex. I got the Custom Compare Value (CCV) to measure middleware products ELPs. However, my question is more on the software included that can be licensed separately. For example, I have a Weblogic Suite with quantity of 5 licensed by Oracle Processor. I already added a license in SLM with the CCV, and mapped to a server which requires 5 Oracle Processor. However this suite also includes Java SE Suite which can be licensed separately. Since the install of Java SE Suite is related/covered by my Weblogic Suite entitlement, i am unsure what metric Java SE Suite should follow, if number of installation (which in this case is 1) or Oracle Processor (which in this case, is 5. Hi Miraluz, we do not display the bundle content for WebLogic Suite in SLM, but  you can play around with the bundles in the SnowMACC. Here you can see the bundle already provided by the Data Intelligence Service. If Java SE Suite is detected, maybe check if both applications are having the same metric (CCV). If yes and there are still problems with covering applications part of the bundle, you might create your own bundles. There is a detailed description in the Web User Guide SLM on how to do so.
