Unable to save reports to a shared location

Is there an issue with saving reports to a shared location?

I am generating a report to save to a shared location but it's not working for me, I have full read/write access to this location and am putting in the correct full path. I'm also saving it as a 'disk' but the reports aren't generating.

I've tried testing other locations which I also have full read/write access but I'm not having any luck

  • Hi all ! Could someone confirm that this functionnality only works with on-prem environment ? Not SPE Thanks
    • yes it does - but only if the SLM server has access to the share.....
  • Does the report run if you use the email option as a test? Does it save to a local folder to the SLM?
    • Yeah the report runs when I send it to my email, it doesn't save to a local folder in the SLM but I have it set up to save to my local drive here
      • does that work to a local drive or is that the issue?  On the SLM server, look in the C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Logs\ReportExport folder. Successful and failed report export information is logged there. Anything that indicates a failure on those to disk saves?

Hello Tracy, please note, that the reports are created by the snow server without you being logged in. On the machine, you will find a service called Snow License Manager Report Exporter , which runs under a certain account (by default  Local System ). This account needs the proper rights to write to the file path, that you enter. Also, if you enter C:\..., this will be the server's C partition, not yours. As Mark already said, please check the log files under  C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Logs\ReportExport folder for investigation. /marcel

Hi ?, For shared folders, you have to grant access to the SLM computer account. Let's see how with an example (NOTE: My test environment has two computers, SLM8SLM8SI5 and SLM8SQL01, both members of the snowdemo.local domain). Create a folder on SLM8SQL01 (destination server), called SLMReports Open the folder properties, and go to the " Share " tab. Click on " Share... " and type the computer name of the SLM server (where the Snow License Manager Report Exporter service is running), followed by $, this is, SLM8SLM8SI5$ . Click " Add " to include the computer name and change the permissions to Read/Write. Click on " Share " to apply the configuration. Click on " Advance Sharing... ". On the " Advance Sharing " window, click on " Permissions ". Delete the " Everyone " permission.Click on " Add... ", change the " Object Types " scope, including the " Computers " option, and browse for the computer account ), followed by $, this is,  SLM8SLM8SI5$ . Assign the " Full control " permission and click on " Apply" Schedule a report in Snow License Manager, setting the path to the shared folder: Check the results in the shared folder \\SLM8SQL01\SLMReports Hope this help! Best, Jorge
