SQL AlwaysOn not supported by Snow?

Hi.

We have a new SQL server with two physical server (SQL server 2016) as a cluster (AlwaysOn Availability Group). The migration of the Inventory database was not a challenge. The migration of the LicenseManager database is a real problem. By default contains this database a encryption with a unknown key (probably knows that Snow), but we need that to set up the AlwaysOn functionality in the SQL server. It seems like a real secret! Our Consultant didn't get the key.

Is it true that Snow not support a high availibility SQL Cluster? What do the other companies?

In the database server requirements stands nothing about it. No limitations to a single instance.

Hi Kai, did you have a look at the following user guide? ServiceNow What do you mean with encryption? Do you mean the connection string? If you still have issues with the movement, please consider to open a ticket. Best regards /marcel

  Hi Marcel, thanks for quick reply. Parts of the LicenseManager database are encrypted (Database Master Key) and the SQL Server Management Studio recognize that and ask for the key. For a normal migration from one SQL to another one, it is not necessary. That will be our workaround. Our consultant opens a ticket. I only wonder, this is state of the art today. I would be interested in how others do it. No other Snow user has a high-availability SQL server? Hard to believe. Kind regards, Kai

    Hi Kai, what I can tell you is that parts of our database are indeed encrypted. Always On is currently not supported, but we are seeing customers successfully implementing this in their environment. If you are interested how to implement Always On for SQL, please reach out to your Account Manager. Best regards /marcel

    Hi. In the meantime had we get a statement from Snow Support. Indeed, currently there is now support for a SQL-HA. The devs have that on their plan, but currently there is no schedule for the implementation. We're working now with only one instance and waiting for a offical solution. Hind regards, Kai
