Licenses Erroring in Snow (Windows Server 2019 DC & Std)

Hi,

Are there any Snow users experiencing problems when adding in licenses for but not limited to Windows Server 2019 Datacenter and Windows Server 2019 Standard?

The problem we are experiencing is that you add a license against either of these applications and then a few days later, the application name and manufacturer disappears from the license list and when you click into the license, an error message occurs?

This also occurs across a small number of other non Microsoft applications.

  • Hi Aurora, We had similar issues recently, particularly with our licenses for Win Server 2019 Standard and Datacenter. I contacted Snow Support (CS0021264) and they quickly sent me a fix in the form of a SQL query to run against our SLM database. This solved the issue completely. If I understand correctly, this might have been triggered in our case by the issue many customers had related to the expired key for the Software Recognition Service (can't remember the new name for that service). What happens internally is that some licenses are pointing to the wrong ApplicationID. You can check your own data by pulling the results to the following query: SELECT * FROM tblLicense tl   LEFT JOIN tblApplication ta ON ta.ApplicationID = tl.ApplicationID   WHERE ta.ApplicationID IS This should bring a list of licenses for which the Application is wrong

    • Hi Samuel, Thank you very much for your feedback, its really appreciated! We'll try this and see where we get. Kind regards, Aurora.
    • Hi Samuel, When you run the select statement, how did you fix the issue with the apps being assigned wrong? Laim
      • Hi Laim, I lost the script that was sent to us but as far as I remember, this can be corrected in 1 or 2 steps depending on your situation, although I would recommend you get the script confirmed by a Snow Tech: 1) Fix the ApplicationID in the table tblLicense . The logic would look like this (confirm column names): UPDATE tblLicense SET ApplicationID = 'XXXNewCorrectAppIDXXXX' WHERE LicenseID = 'YYYY'  2) If SLM reverts back to the old/wrong ApplicationID after the next DUJ, then check/delete any entry in table tblApplicationMoved where the NewApplicationID matches your incorrect ApplicationID . That should put you on the correct track, although I wish I could provide something more complete. Disclaimer : This is just according to what I remember, Snow Support will be more than happy to give some help.
