Mac agent update to 6.0.1

Hi,

I am trying to push out a new Mac agent, so we can test an update to v6.0.1.  The old agent is working ... and reporting in.  However, when I try to push out the new agent via the SMACC it fails repeatedly.  There is an error in the agent log saying this:

ERROR:

snowagent Update/StagingStatusChecker.cpp; CheckVersion; Cannot get version string from 'snowagent' binary in update package: /tmp/snow/snowagent/staged/...

WARNING:

snowagent Update/UpdateManager.cpp; SelfTest; Cannot start update self-test, exit code: 96

Has anybody else seen something like this?  Any ideas?

Regards, David

  • Hi David, Were you able to solve this topic? We do have also some MAC's with an old agent. Possibly I can update them via the SMACC? Thanks!
    • Hi, In the end I think we removed the agent manually and tried to reinstall it by hand.  But we still have problems, and I think it all started when the Mac agent moved to v6.  So we have some Mac computers where the agent no longer runs.  The agent just gives an 'Illegal instruction: 4' error and crashes ... even if we run it from the command line, we get the same illegal instruction error.  So far I have not been able to determine what the problem is, but I haven't had time to investigate properly since we're having bigger problems with SLM at the moment. If anyone else has had similar problems with the Mac agent since v6 then I'd be interested to know... Regards, David

      • Hi David, We are also seeing this same issue with "Illegal Instruction 4" in v6 MAC. Were you able to determine what was causing it? Thanks, Greg
        • Hi , No ... we have not been able to find any cause.  So the Mac computers we have with this problem don't appear in Snow anymore :-( If anybody manages to find out what the problem is, then please let us know.  It has been difficult for us to diagnose it. Regards, David
