  • Thank you for responding. We only have one DB and one Site name. Let me re-word my question....I want to be able to tell in my "all computers report" which "Data Source" or "Inventory Source" was a computer discovered such as agent, vCenter, SCCM, etc. I don't have a field like that now but was hoping it was avail in 25.x. Do I have functionality to build a custom report?

    • @juli_moates@ncci.com Thank you for clarifying and that helps. This information is currently not exposed as a Standard column in All computers report even in 25.x and also custom reporting. For more information on what is covered in 25.1.0 is here Snow License Manager 25 | Snow product documentation.

However if identifying discovery source per device is important for your use case, then i would recommend you raise an Idea for this enhancement request with the details.

      Hi,

The best way to achieve this using current features would be to add some extra columns to your "All Computers" report.

If you add the Client Version and the Client Configuration columns then you should be able to make and educated guess about where the data has come from.

Please note however that a computer may have multiple inventory sources so what you are seeing in the All computers view may be actually data coming from multiple sources.

      The Client Version column -

The version number column may help you make an educated guess about where the data has come from.

The current Snow Agent Windows versions are 7.x.0 so if you see 7.5.0 you know this has probably come from a Windows agent.

SIM connectors will show the version of SIM in this column so if you see 6.13.0 you know this has probably come from a SIM connector

This works in cases but sometimes you may need to look at the operating system to verify your assumption as there is some crossover between agent version numbers.

      The Client Configuration column

We recommend that you use unique Config names in your agent configs . These entries will show in this column so hopefully you will see entries like

      • Windows_EUC
      • Windows_SVR
      • Linux_RPM

In Snow Integration Manager you can also name your connectors. These connector names will show in this column so you may see entries like

      • VMWare_VCenter_Location1
      • VMware_VCenter_Location2
      • SCCM_Prod

Once you have add the columns you like then save this as a new report.

I personally export this report to Excel and then use pivot tables to get quick vies of how many agents with x version etc.

      I hope this helps

      Tom

Will the new version 25.x have a field for "Inventory Source"?
