Remote repackager blues....
Remote repackager( AS 5.0 Proff, InstallMonitor Technique) from a NT 4 machine does not capture the installation at all, except shortcuts. Is this behavior being observer by anyone else also or am I doing something wrong...

Things I did:

Created a mapped drive on a clean machine of the my build machine's repackager folder.

Installed the 'Remote Repackager' setup on clean build.

Any help of suggestion would be appreciated..

  • Few things you can try

1 Make sure you have the administrative privileges for that user to be able to use 'InstallMonitor' priveleges.

2 Make sure the shortcuts created by the remote repackager points back to the repackager folder of the build machine and is available.

3 Make sure to reboot the machine.

  • Thanks Praveen I shall try this. As of now I have repackged installing the repackager on clean build...I had no choice left.

However I feel that there was no issue of privileges and reboot. Repackager just ran fine except that it captured only the shortcuts that the setup created. It did not capture the files installed and registry entries being created..

  • Hi Praveen one more fact:

today I tried AS 3.5sp1 also for the same. This also shows the same behavior i.e. repackager is not capturing the files and registry entries(for installation monitoring). Only shortcuts have been captured.

At this point this has started looking like a bug. I would request you to verify this at your end.
