MS SQL Server - licenses requirements

Hello, I have a question about Microsoft SQL Server licenses in Snow License Manager.

As you can see on the picture, Microsoft SQL Server 2019 Express have "No license Required" metric. Why applications under SQL Server, like Database Engine Services or Reporting Services, have "Installations" metric and Requirement=0 instead of "No license required"?mssql

  • Hi,

or, to phrase is that way:

Microsoft Sequel Server Reporting Services (MSSRS) for example are covered with the SQL Server license, as long as MSSRS and SQL are installed onto the same server.

If you, for some reason, decide to install MSSRS onto a separate server, you will have to purchase an additional SQL Server license.

    Regards,

    Axel

Hi @Hubert Supera All SQL Server Editions, regardless if Developer, Enterprise or Business Intelligence, share at lest some of the services. Normally those items should not come unbundled. If so, there is something not working you would see an underlicensing and the you could start investigating.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers Oli
