I cannot send snowpack after reinstallation

Hello,

I did a reinstallation of the agent (to version 6.8.1) on one of the machine in order the changes I wanted to make for the agent to scan the Oracle database. Before the reinstallation at the same day snowpack was succesfully send. After the reinstallation the scan was successful, but there was a log error when trying to send the snowpack and the snowpack could not be sent.

ERRORS from logs:

ERROR;        snowagent; message_loop\messageloop.cpp; Client::MessageLoop::Handshake; Handshake failed. Unexpected server response. 500 Internal Server Error

ERROR;        snowagent; message_loop\messageloop.cpp; Client::MessageLoop::Handshake; Handshake failed. Unexpected server response. 500 Internal Server Error

ERROR;        snowagent; win32\softwareinfo.cpp; CSoftwareInfo::Scan::<>::operator (); Access is denied: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Diagnosis\Temp

ERROR;        snowagent; win32\softwareinfo.cpp; CSoftwareInfo::Scan::<>::operator (); Access is denied: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\SystemData

ERROR;        snowagent; win32\oracleinfo.cpp; OracleInfo::Scan; Snow Inventory Oracle Scanner (SIOS) exited with error code 1.

Does anyone were facing similar issue?

regards,

KH

  • We had this error a few months ago

    "ERROR;        snowagent; message_loop\messageloop.cpp; Client::MessageLoop::Handshake; Handshake failed. Unexpected server response. 500 Internal Server Error"

    And it fixed itself after we changed our DUJ time, because apparently the DUJ run was conflicting with the Inventory accepting files and it was causing a 500 error (very weird.)

    If you reinstall the old agent version, does it work again? Obviously test 6.8.1 again before uninstalling to make sure it wasn't just a fluke.

  • we are also facing the same issue, Have tried multiple troubleshooting steps but still not able to fix it.

    @Liam Stuart can a stucked DUJ also result in the same issue? what was your DUJ time and what is the changed time.

    In our case agent suddenly stopped reporting one day and giving back the same error as above.

  • This is a bit surprising, we have our INV server successfully receiving and processing snowpack files during the DUJ, even during the full ruleset.

    We have not tested yet 6.8.1 so I cannot say for sure where the issue comes from but unless you have maybe SLM and INV installed on the same server, I can't see any reason why DUJ would interfere nor how a failed DUJ would result in a 500 error.

    The handshake error comes from the Inventory service (full or gateway) not answering the local agent reporting from one of the clients. This is not related to how the DUJ went.

    But @Liam Stuart has a lot of experience with that so I would recommend trying the troubleshooting steps he mentions.
