Christopher, the raw data can be found in Snow Inventory. From there we can troubleshoot on why you are not seeing the application and if it is an issue with the data or if we need to update our DIS records. Hope this helps.

  • Hi Christopher,

assuming that you use the Snow Inventory agent, this agent will collect data from the clients where it has been installed.

This includes Files, Registry, some WMI queries and powershell scripts.

All of this is stored into the SnowInventory datase. As Craig, I also call this the raw data. If a file or application does not show up in Inventory, the settings of the Snow Agent need some adjustments, e.g, scan paths.

If you use another inventory source, this might be different though.

Most likely, the applications will be visible in Snow Inventory, but not in Snow License Manager. In this case, the "Data Update Job" (runs 9pm daily by default) obviously has no rule for this application. The application will be listed in the "Unassigned Inventoried Software" view in the Snow Management and Configuration Center.

Most applications will there for a good reason, as they are not relevant to license management. But some applications might and up there because Snow Software has not added a recognition rule (yet).

You cann add your own rule or fill out the SRS request template, there should be some links to the template if you search for it here in the forums.

    Kind regards,

    Axel

    • Hi Alex,

If a file or application does not show up in Inventory, the settings of the Snow Agent need some adjustments, e.g, scan paths' - how can we make the adjustment?

obviously has no rule for this application - how do we enter rules for applications

the application will be listed in the "Unassigned Inventoried Software" view in the Snow Management and Configuration Center. - is this a separate console?

      Thanks,

Could you please tell me how snow inventory collects its information? We have some applications on our computers that dont show up at all in snow. Also does snow look at empty files on devices and record them as applications in snow? Chris
