OSX Agent reporting times?
Does anyone know how long agents take to report back once deployed? We have recently noticed that some OSX 5.1 agents are taking 3-4 days to report back to Snow Inventory after been installed.
- SamuelBaughanThe config file on each device should say how often the agent performs a scan (and sends it to the Inventory server) You will find that under: <Task> <Action>...</Action> <Occurance>...</Occurance> <TimeOfDay>...</TimeOfDay> <Randomize>...</Randomize> </Task> The scan is processed within seconds into the Inventory server. As a suggestion, you could check the LastScanDate in your Inventory server for those devices.Expand Post
- dini.alimHi Samuel, Unfortunately the Config file for the OSX agent doesn't have the 'Task' option, unlike the Windows agent. At least the version that I received from Snow does not have that option. Thanks, DiniExpand Post
- SamuelBaughanUps! Sorry, I had not paid attention that this was for MacOS. Still, it would be good to se what date is indicated in your Snow Inventory SMACC. You would normally expect (if the Mac devices are turned on everyday) that you would see the computer updated on the next day in SLM with the same "Last Scanned date" than in Snow Inventory. Do you run your Data Update Job every day?Expand Post
- Portal UserHi Dini, The MacOS agent should scan daily by default, but this might have been configured differently in your environment? The Agent scan is triggered by the MacOS scheduler, LaunchDaemon. When you install the agent, there is an addition made to the LaunchDaemon manager who will trigger the Agent on the set schedule. It works pretty much like a crontab in Linux or Unix. There is some information in the MacOS user guide where to find the schedule and how to load and unload it. Link to MacOS User Guide If the LaunchDaemon is set to scan on a daily basis but you only get results ever 3-4 days, I would recommend that you file a case with the Snow Support team for further analysis.Expand Post
