Web Configurator file import trigger

Dear Snowlers,

we import several files that are automatically upgraded with information overnight.

However, these files are not imported automatically.

The files all have the same name, which does not change.

Is the name the main parameter or is the file import time-controlled?

How does the import job know when to run?

Hi Julian, The moment an Excel or CSV file is placed in the import folder the Web Configurator will process the file (It can take a minute or 2). The name of the file doesn’t matter but the content does off course. Once the import is finished the file will be deleted. This can take a while depending on the amount of data in the file. You can choose to create a backup from the original file. If you do this the original file will be placed in the Backup folder with a timestamp.   Hi Jeroen, thanks for your reply. We want to import the Date from a netzwork location. The Data is stored in subfolders with a single file. Are we able to import the Files with the filenames or just by the folder location ?

    Hi Julian, You can’t import the complete folder but only the files in the folder. You should place the files in the import folder in the import root directory on the SLM server. Best practice is to create a share for these import folders and to move or copy the import files from sources directory to this share on the SLM server. You can check the SLM Management and Configuration Center user guide explaining the Automatic Import. See chapter 8.2.6 for automatic imports. Kind regards, Jeroen
