Duplicate Machines, No Serial Number

Hi,

I have some Intel NUC pc's. When reinstall Windows it seems like they show a duplicate in SNOW. I believe this is due to the fact that Intel does not flash there S/N to the Bios and SNOW then see's it as a completely new machine. Has anyone else seen this?

  • Hi Jonas, sorry for the late reply. Right, I think I understand what you are saying, if I accidentally name the machine for example PCUK4444L (Laptop) but the I need it to be PCUK4444D (Desktop) it will not actually update on SNOW as it is the same serial number and Same SID? Please correct me if I am mistaken. James
      • Jonas, If I manually delete the machine from SNOW's backend and then run the scan again will it find it the new machine name?
        • Hi James! I'm not able to give a good reply - I think you should check with Snow Software support. It would be really interesting to hear what they say though - so if/when you get to the bottom of this, please check back here with the solution
          • Will Do, thank you for your support on this, it has been very helpful and eye opening.
          • Jonas, Interesting one for this. The SLM server can see the new name, but the inventory server cannot. So I know it has seen the change only the inventory does not update. James
