SI5 centralized agent removal

Hi!

There are features in Snow Inventory 5 for centralized agent deployment and update. Are there any options for centralized agent removal, by using SI5 Admin console?

If no, what is the best practice to remove agents remotely (tools, powershel scripts, etc)?

Hi Viktors, I am not aware of a method of removing the agents from the Inventory 5 console. In our environment when we have need to remove an agent for whatever reason, we use one of our delivery tools (SCCM or Altiris) to execute a PowerShell script we have written which will remove the agent from a device. To be honest we only usually use this to clean the agent off a system so we can perform a clean install of a new agent. Mark.

  Viktors , As Mark has already said no method of removing the Agent via the console. We also use SCCM for removal but you could use GPO, Logon scripts or something similar. Basically you need to issue uninstall commands for every version of the agent on your estate that you have in the format msiexec.exe /x {B4CB8349-EC06-454E-8730-B022A9C60CA7} /qn /norestart (This is Version 3.7 as an example) Look in the following locations for the Guid's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ and then cleanup by removing the following directories. rmdir /s /q "C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Inventory" 2>NUL rmdir /s /q "C:\Program Files (x86)\Snow Software\Inventory" 2>NUL rmdir /s /q "C:\Program Files\INVENTORYCLIENT" 2>NUL rmdir /s /q "C:\Program Files (x86)\INVENTORYCLIENT" 2>NUL rmdir /s /q "C:\ProgramData\SnowSoftware\Inventory" 2>NUL Regards Warwick
