Near Real-Time Data Processing on Snow Atlas (Update)
What’s Changing?
Snow Atlas is undergoing a major architectural upgrade to eliminate the long-standing bottleneck caused by the Data Update Job (DUJ).
This legacy batch-processing mechanism is being replaced by Estate, a modern, cloud-native data pipeline designed to deliver near real-time data visibility across the Snow Atlas platform.
Estate is built on a microservices-based, horizontally scalable architecture that enables parallelized data ingestion and processing. This means that as soon as data arrives, it begins processing—no more waiting for scheduled batch jobs to complete.
Why This Matters
The DUJ has historically been a source of frustration for Snow Atlas customers due to:
- Unpredictable execution times tied to estate size and data complexity.
- Limited scalability and infrastructure constraints, resulting in decreased performance.
- Reduced application availability during DUJ runs.
- High troubleshooting complexity—resulting in long resolution time for customer-reported issues.
Estate addresses these issues by:
- Enabling real-time data availability in the Snow Atlas UI.
- Improving data consistency and reliability across modules.
- Simplifying troubleshooting.
Rollout Timeline
The transition to Estate is actively underway and all SAM on Snow Atlas customer tenants will be migrated, each tenant being onboarded independently with an atomic operation and no expected downtime.
Following the onboarding, the engineering teams will monitor the stability and performance of the Estate services and address any issues that arise.
The rollout is expected to be completed by the end of December.
According to the current rollout plan:
- UK cluster customers were enabled during October,
- West Europe cluster customers were enabled during November and December
- East US and Australia cluster customers are scheduled for Q1 2026.
For more precise information regarding a particular tenant, feel free to reach out to me directly at aleksandar.chubrinoski@flexera.com, or contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM).
Technical Highlights
- Cloud-native, event-driven, multi-tenant architecture with API-first design.
- Domain-based data modeling for better observability and extensibility.
What About Snow License Manager (SLM)?
This enhancement is exclusive to Snow Atlas. On-premises SLM customers will not receive the Estate upgrade. However, this shift presents a compelling reason to consider migrating to Snow Atlas, where innovation and platform evolution are actively focused.
Post-Rollout Support & Escalation
To ensure a smooth transition and rapid resolution of any issues post-rollout, the following support process has been established:
- First Step: Customers should raise a support case through the official support portal. The case should include:
- A detailed description of the issue.
- Relevant screenshots.
- Tenant ID and affected module.
- Timestamp and any observed behavior.
- Support Organization Involvement:
- The support team will triage the issue and coordinate with the Snow Atlas engineering teams as needed.
- Customers will receive updates and resolution timelines based on the severity and impact of the issue.
- Escalation Path:
- If the issue is critical or unresolved within the expected timeframe, it will be escalated to the Snow Atlas Operations Lead.
- Customers may also reach out to their assigned Customer Success Manager (CSM) for additional coordination and visibility.

Will Flexera notify customers or partners when there Tenant will be migrated? So the customer or partner can determine if any support issue they may face in the aftermath has been caused by the update or another BAU issue within Atlas?
Thank you for your question @Joe Powell - ITAM Worx.

Hi,
Can you also update the documentation and "news" section with the change on User roles? Can't find any information on the role "SaaS administrator" and what the difference on the roles are.
MB
Hi @mbreistrand.
Thank you for your question.
Please note that introducing a new data-processing pipeline does not impact user roles. Roles are usually defined based on UI pages, and the pipeline will continue to process the same data as it does today.
Importantly, this change does not affect SaaS management—it pertains solely to data processing for SAM on Snow Atlas.
If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to me at aleksandar.chubrinoski@flexera.com.
Kind regards,
Aleksandar Chubrinoski.
Hi Aleksandar,
Thank you for your response.
I appreciate the clarification. To ensure we're aligned, my original question was not regarding the impact on users and roles, but rather the importance of updating the "News" section to reflect the new roles that have been introduced in Atlas. Additionally, I believe it would be beneficial to update the relevant documentation accordingly. The only recent news item I came across today was about the gradual replacement of DUJ with Estate.
To better support our team, it would be immensely helpful if the "News" section could include more details on upcoming changes, enhancements, and new features. This would allow us to stay informed proactively and follow the "how-to" guides with confidence. At present, we often discover these updates through trial and error, which can be challenging as the product evolves. Given the ongoing improvements, proactively informing partners and customers via the News section would greatly enhance our experience.
Please let me know if you need any further details from my side, and I look forward to your thoughts on this.

Hi @mbreistrand.
Thank you for your clarification. I believe I now understand your point, and I don’t disagree with your perspective regarding the ultimate goal of providing better support to all Snow Atlas customers and users.
It took me a moment to grasp what you meant by “The only recent news item I came across today was about the gradual replacement of DUJ with Estate.” But after checking the News → What's New page, I see what you were referring to.
I’ll make sure to share your candid feedback with my fellow product managers working on Snow Atlas. I’m confident we’ll improve the frequency of updates on the News → What's New page and on the relevant documentation moving forward.
Kind regards,
Aleksandar Chubrinoski.
Is there an updated timeline for when the new DUJ will be put into place for EastUS2?
Hi Gabe, hope you are doing well.
The Estate (the new data processing pipeline for SAM Core) enablement on the EastUS cluster was executed in two iterations one month ago (on 11th and 18th of February).
In case you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out to me - aleksandar.chubrinoski@flexera.com.
Kind regards,
Aleksandar Chubrinoski.
