Using VMware vSphere connector: automatic deletion available?are VMs/phys.ESX-Hosts deleted

Dear Community, we wonder if somebody has experience with:

  • Are VMs/phys.ESX-Hosts automatically deleted in Snow License Manager, if deleted in vCenter?
  • if not, what happens in Snow License Manager instead? Which marker is set?
  • Is there a difference if a VM is inventoried with Agent in addition or if VM-information is only available via connector?

Any answer is wellcome.

Thanks Sebastian

  • DCC information as it's known in the Snow admin Console is normal set to delete after 365 days.

So if oyu have a vcentre server reporting in daily and you alter things the data can hang around for a year.

Best practice would be to drop this time frame to 90 days to allow stale changes to be reported on but then be removed in a timely manner.

    • I would suggest not just 90 days - but to set the number of days so that it is in sync with the quarantine settings for users and computers. And generally all quarantine settings should be set the same (30, 60 or 90 days - and metering period correspondingly to 1, 2 or 3 months).
