Applications in AP changing to RETIRE status.

Hi,

We have an issue with entries in AP, which set to retire- most of them are custom entries. The workaround advised by support is to add number of licenses to each entry in SLM. We have over 500 entries, not necessarily looking to update all manually. Is there a way to add the licenses in a bulk? We have a process to import apps but its not via SLM GUI. Thanks a lot.

    Hi @Maja Hamerlinska,

There has been a change in SLM (>9.16.1) that does not include SLM applications to be listed in API if they are not inventoried or have a assigned license. Either of these things will list it via the API.

Before SLM 9.16.1, applications with metadata/applicationinfo would be included. For example custom fields or system owner.

So if your process is looking for non-inventoried applications, without licenses in the API it will fail and the application will stay in retired and not be "re-published".

FYI: the default process "retires" all applications, and then publish/activate them with updated information.

Currently, the best workaround is to assign a license to the application. This can be "fake" if needed for applications that does not require a license. Follow @Axel Lamparth recommendations on how to bulk edit license assignment here.

I suggest you raise a support ticket to confirm that this is the reasons for your issue, and if this is the case you will be connected to the problem ticket for this and be notified when it is solved (currently there is no decision on this problem). If this can't be confirmed to be related to the known issue, and need further assistance I suggest you reach out to Professional Services as mentioned by @Jason Razor.

    Hope this helps! :)

    Hi Maja,

Thanks for posting your question on Snow Globe. I believe more discovery would be required to see if this can be accomplished. For this reason in this instance I don’t feel it’s something I’d be able to assist you to achieve via the Snow Globe community. However it could certainly be delivered for you by purchasing some services assistance. If you are interested in purchasing services please review this page which provides you with more information.

  • Hi Maja,

of course you can import licenses and license assignments either through the SLM WEb UI or the import tool located in the "Web Configurator" tool of SLM. At least, as long as these applications require licenses.

To discuss this in depth, we'd need some more details 😉

    Kind regards,

    Axel

      • I confirmed by Support that this is or has been a probelm issue - it needs to be reopened.

Will check the bulk update option, if it is applicable in our case. Thanks a lot.
