License Assignment

I'm trying to add one of my ESX servers to my License Assignment, but for some reason when I search for the server in the assignment screen it is not finding it. It's finding other servers just fine. I can also go to another license assignment and search and find this server without issues. 

Any ideas what's happening here?

    If the version that is installed on the Virtual Machines (I'm assuming it's an application in the DC, as you will only be assigning vSphere to the ESX host), is different to the license you are assigning, you need to ensure you've enabled downgrade rights to the installed version.  Hope that makes sense.

    I would say Natalie is correct. The application and / or applications use rights are not fitting. You could check by following this approch. After you have clicked on Add on the assignment tab, next to the search field you can set more options on the search. Try selecting Ignore use rights and you should be able to find your server. Typical example, assigning Windows Server Datacenter to an ESX host, which currently is not hosting any Windows Server VMs. Hope that helps Best regards Sebastian

      Thanks, you guys pointed me in the right direction. My issue was I was trying to add a server 2008 r2 standard license not datacenter.
