Adding ",00" to the INV_FILE_FILTER setting

We recently had a problem where an application was not getting detected properly. We could see the data in the Inventory but it was not appearing in SLM. The strange thing was that the detection rules seemed fine. We could not see an obvious reason why the detection was not working.

After many months of puzzling, Snow Support eventually asked me to make this change:

Append ",00" to this setting in the SLM SMACC: Configuration -> Basic Setting -> INV_FILE_FILTER

Which seems to have worked a treat!

So I am now wondering what putting ",00" at the end of the INV_FILE_FILTER setting actually does. Is it something to do with registry entries? I just wondered if anybody knows...

Hi David, per Default we process this extensions EXE,WFD,WFI,WTD,WTI,SYS2 only When you add 00 at the end of line it will also process Normaly Registry files can end up with 00 extension The software row will not even be transferred because the default filter will not transfer software rows generated by files with the extension .00
    • Thanks ‌,  I suspected that it was something to do with the registry.  The application we were struggling with has detection rules based on registry entries only, rather than executables, so it makes sense. However ... we didn't notice any file extensions of  .00 ... so is this extension something that is added by Snow?  I'm just wondering if .00 is some kind of behind-the-scenes dummy file extension that is used by Snow for some registry values.  Is that the case? Thanks for your help. Regards, David
