About DIS

Data Intelligence Service (DIS) provides recognition services to customers, ensuring accurate software recognition in Snow License Manager and Snow Atlas. The DIS team consists of:

• DIS Analyst Team – Responsible for analysing incoming inventory data to keep software recognition up to date.
• DIS Development Team – Focuses on advancing recognition technology and improving our services.

Highlights from March

Update on Windows Java SE 8:

Root cause: No RD rules existed for javaws.exe on any Windows Java SE 8 update app.

Fix: Added path-specific javaws.exe rule to every Windows JRE and JDK update app.

Fix on Oracle Java false consumption:

We completed a rule-side fix for the javapath shim issue.

Added executable exclusion %\oracle\java\javapath_target%\java.exe to Oracle Java Windows base recognition rules so shim/redirector binaries are no longer counted as real Java installs.

Result:

Service Categories & Subcategories Refinement

In March, we streamlined AI‑generated service classifications to improve accuracy and consistency:

• Service categories reduced from 1,132 to 253
• Service subcategories reduced from 5,244 to 394

This refinement removes duplication, resulting in clearer service mapping and more reliable reporting.

Lifecycle & Support Status Updates:

As part of our lifecycle improvement work in March 2026:

• Lifecycle data was updated for 24,484 applications across multiple software families
• 3,385 applications now include an accurate release date
• 4,540 applications now include a verified end‑of‑support date
• 4,295 applications now include a verified end‑of‑life date

The following top vendors accounted for the highest volume of lifecycle changes in March:

• Autodesk, Inc. – 1,502 applications
• JetBrains s.r.o. – 1,298 applications
• Microsoft Corporation – 1,122 applications
• IBM – 943 applications
• Quest Software – 641 applications

In addition, support status inconsistencies were corrected to improve overall data reliability.
