Flexera Inventory Agent and Inventory Beacon network communication componets have been updated to utilize modern libraries. This enhancement also allows for the retrieval of the Content-Type header, helping to ensure compliance with relevant security policies when applicable.
Starting with version 23.0 (2024 R2 release), the FlexNet Inventory Agent and Beacon network communication components has been updated to modernize inventory agent and beeacon communication capabilities. Previously, the Inventory Agent relied on proprietary code for all network interactions netween Inventory Agent and beacon. Now, the Inventory Agent for Windows operating system uses built windows WinHttp library , while the Inventory Agent for supported Unix-like platforms employs curl version 8.10.1.
The Inventory Agent for Windows and Unix-like platforms has also been updated to support TLS 1.3 starting with version 23.0 (2024 R2 release). For more details, please check the Inventory Agent online change log.
Flexera has made extensive efforts to test and validate that all existing functionality remains intact with these updates. However, we recognize that network configurations can vary. Therefore, we recommend that if you decide to upgrade to version 23.0 (or later) of the FlexNet Inventory Agent and/or Beacon, you should first test it on a few devices. This will help ensure that all network communications between the FlexNet Inventory Agent and/or the Beacon continue to function properly before deploying it across your organization.
