Known Issue: Error may be reported from import process when a special character exists in data source name: "Error occurred while creating the log file package. Exception: Illegal characters in path." (IOJ-1818863)
Summary
When an inventory connection name contains a special character, an error like the following may appear in inventory import log files:
2017-02-23 02:49:46,013 [ERROR] Error occurred while creating the log file package. Exception: Illegal characters in path.
2017-02-23 02:49:46,013 [FATAL] Error occurred while saving log file. Exception: Illegal characters in path.
This particular error does not result in the inventory import process otherwise failing, but the following symptoms may be evident:
Log files may not be available for download from the web UI (such as on the System Tasks page).
Imports may not be reported as "In progress" indefinitely on the System Tasks page in the web UI.

This problem occurs if an inventory connection name contains any of the following special characters:
< (less than)
> (greater than)
: (colon)
" (double quote)
/ (forward slash)
\ (backslash)
| (vertical bar or pipe)
? (question mark)
* (asterisk)
When importing data from SAP, a built-in connection name of "SAP (SAP-*)" is used. This connection name causes this issue to occur.
Fix status
This issue has been fixed in the following FlexNet Manager Suite releases: 2020 R2.4 / May 2021 (Cloud), 2021 R1 (On Premises)
