Known Issue: BIOS information may be missing from inventory gathered from the Linux computers if dmidecode program is not available (IOJ-2233774)
Symptoms
BIOS information such as serial number, UUID, manufacturer, model, and chassis type may be missing from inventory gathered from computers running Linux operating systems by the FlexNet inventory agent if the dmidecode program is not available.
Details
The FlexNet inventory agent has a dependency on the dmidecode program on Linux operating systems to gather various information from the computer's BIOS. If this program is not available or unable to be executed then associated BIOS information will not be included in gathered inventory data.
The following directories are searched in this order to locate the dmidecode executable:
/usr/sbin
/opt/managesoft/libexec
$PATH
Workaround
Ensure the dmidecode executable is available on computers running Linux operating systems in one of directories identified above.
Fix details
The FlexNet inventory agent installer package has been updated to include a copy of dmidecode (named "mgsdmidecode") that can be used when a system dmidecode executable is not available.
