How to add license server to FlexNet Agent 5.x

From FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications version 15.3 and above FlexNet Agent 5.x can be used to manage License servers and Third-party license servers, please follow the steps in this guide to add a new license server after the agent has been added to FNMEA.

From FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications version 15.3 and above FlexNet Agent 5.x can be used to manage License servers and Third-party license servers, please follow the steps in this guide to add a new license server after the agent has been added to FNMEA.

Discussion

After adding the agent, please click on the Servers tab> License Managers tab and then click on the 'Add License Server' button on the right hand side and then-

1. Provide an Alias for your license server (License Server Display Name)

2. Select your agent in the text box

3. Paste in the directory for lmgrd

4. Paste in the directory for lmutil

5. If you wish you can check the 'Restart automatically' box, this will automatically start the License server if it goes down. However this is up to you how you wish to administer the license server.

6. Paste in the directory for the license file, this can be the path to a specific file or a directory that contains multiple license files.

7. Paste in the directory for the debug log

8. If you wish you can enable 'Refresh license server status' and select every 5 or 10 minutes. This just displays the agent status on the summary page, however again this is up to you how you wish to administer the license server.

Note: It is advised to have an instance of the lmgrd and lmutil for each license server to ensure the live activity is reported for each license server.
