Error after upgrade to 2024 R1

Hello,

Did some encounter errors with the beacon server after upgrade to 2024 R1? I have the following error:

[8/29/2024 9:43:09 AM (G, 0)] {2424} Uploading file 'system on at 20240826T175539 (Full).ndi.gz' to 'https://ManageSoftRL/Inventories'
[8/29/2024 9:43:09 AM (N, 0)] {2424} Error 0xE050001F: The username and/or password supplied was invalid
[8/29/2024 9:43:09 AM (N, 0)] {2424} Error 0xE0500452: Failed to write remote file /ManageSoftRL/Inventories/system on  at 20240826T175539 (Full).ndi.gz
[8/29/2024 9:43:09 AM (N, 0)] {2424} Error 0xE069009A: Error transferring data (Network error?)

But the strange thing is that no one changed the service account, also the error is intermittent, It upload a few hundred inventory, then fail again. I tried to download the beacon to latest version that had worked (21) and now it's upload something more, then again is failing. And this behavior we have also on our multi tenant implementation.

It looks like the name of the parent beacon (i.e. where to upload files to) is not currently configured: note there is no parent beacon name in the upload URL "https://ManageSoftRL/Inventories".

With that said, I'm a little confused how this would result in an error about a username/password. But regardless of that, it certainly won't work without the parent beacon being configured.

Hello, the beacon name was remove to not provide customer sensitive information. The beacon is correctly configure as it work and then stop with that error. I opened also a Flexera case on this topic.

One short update, I downgraded the master beacon server to version 21 (2023 R2) and seems to work now, it generate again errors but in the end he uploaded the pending inventories. So seems to be an issue related to the latest version 2024 R1

Hello @adrian_ritz

Did you manage to get it working with 2024 R1 version?
I'm getting the same issues. There's problem with larger gz inventory files , over 2mb, but that's not always the the case. Furthermore, I copied problematic files to incoming folder on our QA  beacon and they did get processed. I'm lost now and wondering if the support helped you in any way?

PS. I should mention that I have upgraded the beacon application to 2024 R1 on both beacon servers yesterday while FNMS is still on 2023 R1.

Hello,

I had 2 days ago a call with Flexera support, and they linked the case with other one, and forwarded to engineering team. Our solution was to downgrade all the master beacons to the latest stable version that is in use.

Confirming that downgrade did the trick on our end as well.

Did they give you any number of the other case?

Nope

I experience this issue after upgrading to FNMS 2024 R1, but this issue only happens on the standalone windows servers which are not a member server of our corporate domain. I logged a new case with Flexera support and they are working on this issue. I saw the uploader stopping to process any ndi/ndi.gz files when I saw the following errors showing up in even viewer logs. After I moved the ndi file to a temp folder, the uploader started to continue to process remaining files until it processed a problematic ndi file (I tried to move these problematic ndi files to another beacon server (a member server of corporate domain) and it could process the ndi files without issue). Also, I checked the upload.log files and no errors were captured in all these log files. A bug in uploader in FNMS 2024 R1?

After I manually installed the beacon application (version 21.0.0.8), the uploader was working fine even though it still generated errors in event viewer logs. I saw the following errors in older versions of beacon application, but the uploader was still working.
