Can a Report Be Triggered by a Change in Value?

    Hi all ...

Below is a sample (redacted) record from a filtered All Licenses report:

Filtered All Licenses ReportIs it possible, in Flexera One, to have this report e-mailed to me, if the value in the shortfall / availability column (the last one in the sample above) changes in the database? Is this scenario feasible?

I was looking at Flexera Analytics (IBM Cognos behind the curtain). Analytics can e-mail reports based on a schedule, and also by the occurrence of a trigger. [Best I can tell, a trigger is some sort of event.] But all the documentation I've seen on Cognos triggers involves running a batch file on the [Cognos?] server to create the trigger, and in the Flexera One world, I do not have access to the Cognos (or Flexera) server. It is also not clear to me, assuming I had server access, how to define the trigger - how might I say "when the value changes, run the report"? The documentation simply says "run this command to set up the trigger" but offers no example of how to define one (for example, the database refresh that the documentation identifies).

Can Flexera Analytics do this? If not, can anyone suggest some other method of meeting this requirement?

One non-perfect answer is to simply have the report e-mailed daily. Setting up the daily schedule looks straightforward. But it was pointed out to me that I'd be getting the same report daily with no way to know that something has changed. With the automation use case, I'd get the report only when something changed. I'd have to examine the report to see what changed, but at least, I'd get the report only when necessary, so I'd know that a change occurred.

I'm looking for a better solution and am interested in your suggestions. Thank you!

    Community Voices: Meet Wacky

    Hello Everyone,

We’re launching Community Voices, a series featuring members who share their experience and practical advice in the Flexera Community.

First up is Wacky, a Senior Application Consultant at Grundfos. He shares his experience with Flexera One and explains why data quality matters before reporting.

Read Wacky's story on the Community blog.

What's one tip you have for making sure inventory data is ready for reporting? Share below or leave Wacky a question in the comments.

Thanks @jjoaquin  for being a familiar face in the community and for sharing your experience with us.

  3. Allocation Issues

    Hi Team,

I am facing allocation issue in Named User License. Since, the license is mapped to correct application and we have more than 1000 installed in our environment for that application. But there is no consumption and also user allocation not showing in the tool. Users are still using the application. What should be done for showing allocation of the users in the license? Any help?image

    • With a high volume of users, you may want to allocate by Report to avoid manually maintaining the allocations.

  4. How can we increase the Flexera API rate limit?

We integrated Flexera One into our Terraform workflow, but we regularly hit the current limit of 50 API actions per minute.

For example, one Terraform apply for 10 projects creates around 10 budgets and 30 alerts, plus additional authentication and query requests.

Is it possible to increase the rate limit for our organization or account? If so, how can this be requested or configured? Thanks, Anton

    • Hi John,

Thanks for the guidance. We will follow up with our Flexera/partner account representatives regarding the quota request.

We are now also experiencing HTTP 403 responses from the Flexera One Budgets API in our Terraform pipelines. Our script reports successful authentication, but the subsequent budget lookup fails, blocking deployments for multiple developers.

Could this be related to API or token limits, or should it be investigated separately as an authorization issue? We are opening a support case to investigate the failure.

      Best regards,

      Anton

  6. New in IT Visibility: Drill Down from Software Evidence to Associated Devices

We're excited to share an enhancement that makes it faster to see exactly which devices are behind any software evidence record in IT Visibility.

Device Counts added to Software Evidence

IT Visibility now shows a Device Counts column on the Software Evidence page (Applications & Evidence > IT Visibility Software > Software Evidence). It shows how many devices have that evidence. Click the count to open the Devices page, filtered to only the devices associated with that evidence record and evidence type.

    You'll find Device Counts in:

    • The Installer Evidence, File Evidence, and OS Evidence views, where it appears as a column.
    • The detail page of an individual evidence record, where it appears as a value.

Why this matters: Previously, you had to search separately to find out where a piece of software evidence was installed. Now one click takes you from "what's installed" to "where it's installed." This helps when you're validating recognition, looking into unexpected software, or preparing for an audit.

    With this update, you can:

    • Go straight from an evidence record to its associated devices.
    • Search within just the filtered device records, with the evidence filter still applied.
    • Add more column filters and keep the evidence filter in place.
    • Export only the filtered devices with Download Grid Data (CSV). The file is named Devices-Filtered-by-SW-Evidence-Export-<date>.csv.

Note: The summary card and group buttons aren't shown on the filtered Devices page.
