Summary

On recent Windows systems, such as 2019 and 2022, a server may be configured to prefer IPv6 over IPv4 by default. This may impact Customers that are installing or configuring User Console - more specifically, when first time or subsequent re-activation occurs, as the hostname that is used by Data Platform is resolved to an IPv6 address. This occurs mainly when both products are co-located.

 

Symptoms

Error(s) in the logs:

  • System.Exception: tcp://fe80::7956:b382:729b:1013%6:8084/NormalizeBIUpdateServer/AppService ---> System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: Invalid port specified.

 

Workaround

The current workaround for this, as per our Engineering team, is to follow the Microsoft configuration guide below:

 

Fix Version and Resolution

Our Engineering team is currently aware of this issue, and they are targeting to fix this in our 5.5.74 patch release. However, if there may be any changes/delays, we will update accordingly.
