Technopedia manufacturer tier definition
Flexera has four tiers of manufacturers for prioritizing Technopedia coverage enhancement and gap-fill activities: Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 10.
Tiers 1, 2, and 3 are assigned based on the following criteria, with Tier 1 being the top category.
- Revenue per year
- Number of software releases and hardware models in Technopedia*
- Number of evidence mappings in Technopedia**
- Number of Flexera customers with the manufacturer active in their environment
- Industry rank (determined by Flexera)
Manufacturers are ranked for Technopedia prioritization using these criteria, and then the ranks are averaged to create an overall rank:
- If the final rank is greater than or equal to 8, it is Tier 1
- If the final rank is less than 8 and greater or equal to 6, it is Tier 2
- If the final rank is less than 6, it is Tier 3
Notwithstanding this calculation, any manufacturer of operating system software shall be prioritized no lower than Tier 2.
Tier 10 is assigned to a manufacturer that is marked as Inactive (ceased independent operations due to business shutdown or acquisition).
* SaaS software in Technopedia is deemed to have 20 releases a year for manufacturer tier ranking purposes.
** Hardware mapping is weighed 12 (twelve) times of software mapping due to different mapping ratios.
