Preferring private addresses for public cloud operations
By default, Commander contacts instances on Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure using their public IP addresses for operations such as Guest OS Workflow steps. This often requires creating firewall rules or configuring endpoints. If a persistent VPN to your private network exists, you can make a simple configuration change to avoid additional setup.
- Under the Configuration menu, choose System.
- Switch to the Advanced tab.
- Enter the text prefer in the search filter field.
- Double-click embotics.osscanner.preferprivate.
- Change the configuration to true and click Save.
All communications with cloud instances will now prefer the private network address, provided routing is available, such as through a persistent VPN to the private network.
