Redistributables are InstallShield objects, third-party merge modules or product prerequisites that can be used to add resources to the installation.

InstallShield provides several methods for acquiring redistributables. This article discusses how to download redistributables for use within an InstallShield project.

Discussion

InstallShield provides third-party Redistributables as a courtesy. The list of redistributables that Flexera Software provides is not an exhaustive list; however, most of the popular redistributables are provided. Ultimately, the third-party vendor is responsible for providing their redistributables.

Depending on the version of InstallShield being used, the redistributables can be downloaded to the InstallShield development or build machine via the following methods:

InstallShield 2011 and Earlier:

1. Navigate to the InstallShield Files and Utilities page on the Flexera Software Web site

2. Click on the version of InstallShield being use and select the appropriate download.

InstallShield 2012 and later:

1. Sign in to the Flexera Software Product and License Center

2. In the left navigation, under Entitlements, click Product List. The Product List page shows the product lines your account is entitled to. (Note: If the entitlements consist of a single product, clicking the Product List link opens the Product Information page directly.)

3. If the Product List page shows multiple products, click the InstallShield link. The Product Information page opens.

4. In the Product and File Downloads column, click the InstallShield link for the InstallShield version you wish to download redistributables for. The Product Download page opens.

5. Click the appropriate download button.

From the InstallShield IDE main menu, select Tools->Redistributable Downloader
In the Redistributables view, right click on the redistributable and select Download Selected Item... or Download All Required Items...
