What happens when you rename a custom field that is in use for a saved or scheduled report?
A custom field is used to store information or data that needs to be managed but does not have a pre-defined entry in SAM Core on Snow Atlas. An unlimited number of custom fields can be created for the agreement, application, computer/mobile device, license, and user categories. However, consideration should be taken when creating these fields as they are likely to be used for the duration of the solution's lifecycle.
When you add a custom field to a report and save that report, the name of the custom field is used as the column name in the report and is stored in [SnowLicenseManager].[dbo].[tblSystemUserReports].[ClientLayoutData]. If you alter the name of the custom field, it will no longer match the column name stored in the database and, therefore, cannot be displayed. The reason we use the custom field's “label/name” is because these are exported and might be used to integrate with other systems.
Custom fields are usually created for a very specific reason and are used throughout the product's lifecycle. If a custom field is renamed, you will need to manually add it back into the saved and/or scheduled reports.
