Using Business Mapping to Split Shared Costs
Common types of shared costs are:
- Shared resources (network, shared-storage)
- Platform services (k8s, logging, etc)
- Enterprise level support
- Enterprise level discounts
- Licensing, 3rd party SaaS costs
Let's take for example shared cost for Amazon Redshift, that is used for serving all customers. This cost could be split in three different ways among all customers using it to reflect in a clearer way the total cost for serving this customer.
Snow Cloud Cost allows sharing costs by 3 different options: Equal, Ratio or Custom Percentage.
Sharing Costs Equally
Costs will be split evenly among the selected business mappings.Sharing Costs by Ratio
Costs will be allocated based on the proportions of each mapping's current costs.Sharing Costs by Custom Percentage
Costs will be allocated based on the custom percentage specified for each selected mapping.Viewing Shared Costs in the Cost & Usage Explorer
Apply group by business mapping as well as filtering by the relevant business mapping that include the shared cost to see the total cost per unit, also showing the shared costs. Was this helpful?
