The December 2021 update of the Spider Software Services version 1.2112.2.1817 is now available.

All components are available in our Product and License Center.

The Spider Data Collector (SDC) manual is available for download in a revised and updated version.

Please note that if a version is updated before the August release (<1.2108.1), the Recognition module and also all Spider Data Collector endpoints must be updated.

Corrections

  • A critical error that could occur when importing device data and abort the import process has been fixed. The error was written in the exception log and indicated that a MERGE statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY restriction 'FK_SoftwareScan_Device'.
  • It was not possible to delete devices from the recognition DB. This was also written to the exception logs. The deletion of assets in Spider was not affected, but the associated device could not be deleted and remained in the database. This has been fixed.
  • Errors in the setup for the Recognition module and for the Spider Data Collector (SDC) have been fixed, which prevented an update of  program libraries or connectors.
  • A previously uninitialized and unused SFTP module is deactivated for security reasons.
  • With the October release, the mechanism for URN as an identification field was expanded so that several URNs can be assigned to one device. With this release the following changes are made:
    • An error in the device identification based on URN has been corrected, which led to several device data records being merged during import.
    • The last assigned URN is listed in the export views in the existing URN field, which last returned the value NULL due to the changes made in October.

Important Catalog Changes

  • We have improved the Classification Engine so that even more program signatures can be classified as SAM relevant or irrelevant in the future.
  • Oracle Java 8 detection rules have been improved. Future Java updates (u321-351) have been prepared so that they will be recognized when they are released.
  • The SUSE unlimited virtualization rules for the products "Suse Linux Enterprise Server for x86-64 with Live Patching unl. VM (Product Specific)" and "Suse Linux Enterprise Server for x86-64 unl. VM (Product Specific)" have been expanded.
  • Further changes to the catalog. For example, the Brainwaregroup products were moved to Flexera and additional LMP definitions for older Microsoft Windows servers were added.

Recognition Catalog

The Recognition Catalog contains normalization and recognition capabilities for more than

  • 2.786.900 inventoried programs,
  • 112.000 software publishers, and
  • 6.670.300 inventoried files.

For more details please check the change notes.

Software and SKU Catalog

The Software Catalog contains more than 1.084.600 relevant and normalized articles (SKUs) of software licenses and maintenances  and more than 67.740 license-relevant product versions.
Summary of the supplemented catalog items:

  • Articles (SKUs): 43.136
