How to enable auto update feature for the exe file generated from InstallShield

Whenever we generate a new installer/exe file using InstallShield, we need to manually uninstall the older version and install the new exe file.

Do we have any mechanism to notify the users (whoever have installed the older version) that a new version exists. When the user acknowledges it and wants the new version, they can upgrade to newer version without uninstalling every time.

(or)

Auto upgrade the tool in all the machines whenever a new version is available.

Any links or notes on how to implement this would be of great help.

Hi @banumula,

Thank you for your post.

Our solution for delivering updates for software is a separate product and, therefore, requires a separate purchase from that of InstallShield. However, to be upfront, my understanding is that this solution does not have built-in integration with InstallShield itself.

Here is a link to the page that we have that describes our solution for this:

Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) and Updates
https://www.revenera.com/software-monetization/products/software-delivery-and-updates

Please focus your attention on the Automated Software Updates Section of that page.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!

We do have Installshield integration with our solution. Whenever we build the installshield ism project, a new setup.exe file gets generated. But, I couldn't anything related to updates for this setup.exe instead of creating a new version everytime.

Regarding delivering the updates, do we have any alternatives that can be used as part of InstallShield subscription?

Thank you for your reply, @banumula. No, the only option for delivering software updates is to purchase our Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) and Updates solution. There is nothing built into InstallShield for this use case. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
