Installing InstallAnywhere2023R1

Jump to solution

When trying to install IA2023R it successfully extracts the downloaded exe and begins the install.  I then get the message "This Application has Unexpectedly Quit" with the following in the details section.

I am using following Java which release notes say are supported.

openjdk 11.0.2 2019-01-15
OpenJDK Runtime Environment 18.9 (build 11.0.2+9)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM 18.9 (build 11.0.2+9, mixed mode)

Any suggestions much appreciated.

(1) Solution

To answer my own question the solution is to run the installer exe from the command line with the parameter -jvmxmx 256m where 256m is the new max size you want

This issue is caused by the Java process having insufficient memory allocated. Hence, the resolution would be to increase the initial/minimum and maximum Java heap size, which is the memory allocated to the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Try to increase the java heap size by editing InstallAnywhere.lax file,
lax.nl.java.option.java.heap.size.initial=[amount]
lax.nl.java.option.java.heap.size.max=[amount]

Thanks for the reply, but I only have the installer exe, and no lax file. Is there a parameter to the installer executable to increase the java memory?
