I am pleased to let you know that the August 2020 update (release number 2020 R1.1) of FlexNet Manager Suite Cloud is now deployed in the UAT environment for testing and familiarization. The update will be deployed to the Production environment over the coming days in the following maintenance windows:

Here are some highlights of this update.

Three new license reports by enterprise groups

Three new reports on license transactions make it easier to track both purchases and consumption by various enterprise groups, for enterprises that allow (some) decentralized purchasing of software. The reports are alike, except for the different kinds of enterprise groups that they track. They are:

  • Licenses Consumed and Purchased by Corporate Unit
  • Licenses Consumed and Purchased by Cost Center
  • Licenses Consumed and Purchased by Location.

Four new Citrix evidence reports

If your enterprise makes use of either Citrix virtual applications or Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) or both, four new reports in this release help you manage those kinds of virtualization. They are:

  • Citrix Virtual Apps File Evidence
  • Citrix Virtual Apps Installer Evidence
  • Citrix Virtual Desktops File Evidence
  • Citrix Virtual Desktops Installer Evidence.

Shared content folder added to Flexera Analytics

Flexera Analytics provides new avenues of collaboration, as all Flexera Analytics users now have Edit access to a new Shared Content folder (under the Team content folder). Any actions you could do previously within the My content folder, you can now also do within the Shared Content folder.

SAP connections support SNC

As an alternative (and in addition) to SSL and HTTPS support, SAP landscapes support Secure Network Communications (SNC) for systems that use the SAP protocols RFC or DIAG. Now the configuration page in FlexNet Beacon for setting up a connection to an SAP system has been enhanced to support SNC.

Just a quick note to say the deployment of this update to the North America Production environment has been postponed pending some improvements we want to make to better automate the deployment process. We'll update this article once a new deployment date is confirmed.

Is there an ETA for the 2020 R1.1 North America Production environment?

Also, will there be a new release of the the FlexNet Agent with R1.1?

@adamgalbreath - no date for deploying the 2020 R1.1 update to the North America Production environment is set yet. The team are still working on the  improvements noted in the previous comment.

A new FlexNet inventory agent does come with this update. See the FlexNet Inventory Agent Change Log (SaaS) page for more information. If you wanted to test out the agent update ahead of the production deployment, you could download it now from the UAT environment.

@ChrisG I am trying to understand the Changes from Previous Releases devices-  Remote device last inventory date reworked - Are you refrrring to Virtual Devices and Virtual Machines both?

Exactly what is the difference and how can I validate ?

@chirag_sharma2 - FlexNet Manager Suite creates remote devices when it gets software usage details, but has no information about the devices through which the software was accessed. For example, this is common when importing software usage/access details from Citrix technologies. See the following page for some more information about these records in FlexNet, and how to see information about them: Remote Devices.

Does that answer your question?

Hi @ChrisG ,

Thanks for your quick reply!

In our case, we haven't turned on usage details. So, this feature is not useful for us ?

You would normally only see remote device records in your system if you are importing software usage or access data that is associated with a user that is not assigned to with a regular inventory device record. This kind of data typically comes from tools like XenApp Server/EdgeSight/Virtual Desktops, App-V or Microsoft Office 365.
