Symptoms
If I export a list of inventory devices with duplicate computer names and then export a list from the data model the list are totally different. I'm just trying to understand why. Please see the attached from the exports.
Cause
The list of devices in the Data warehouse (what Cognos pulls from) is a filtered set and will most likely not match the duplicate inventory in FNMS. The view, dbo.Export_Inventory_DuplicateHostName_FACT is used to populate the Inventory_DuplicateHostName_FACT table in the data warehouse. It includes all inventory devices except for those with a status of
Awaiting inventory or
Ignored and those which are linked to assets which have been
Ignored. The data is also scoped by the operator so different operators may see different values.
